according to my numbers thats the 3rd BIG road win for the jets this year - bills, pats, and titans..... according to bill parcells, if a team notches 3 BIG road wins during the regular season, they can pretty much rubber stamp playing football in january - late january. i have been posting about this since before the bills game - about 1998 being really the last time the jets made noise on the road, in big spots, against better teams. well after yesterday there may not be any more big road wins left cause the jets may just be the team to beat - even on the road. during the bills game i witnessed a few things that started to get this darksider on board....hence the term "enjoy the ride". well those little things have mushroomed into something much more and could take this team at least to the AFC championship game. i have been accused about looking to far ahead with the #2 seed and all but right now we just might be the favorite for the #2 seed - even though the tiebreaker at the present time goes to the steelers. the titans could go belly up and lose a few more games even though there schedule begs to differ at least until the last 2 weeks. but we wont get too carried away right now. everyone get there heads out of the sand and enjoy the ride jil
Actually the 4th big road win, we won at Miami. It is nice that we swept the division on the road. Great for tiebreakers and remaining schedule.
agreed we havent had a year like this since 98, and possibly 02. So seeing as how it's been a decade since the last time we had a team that we felt confident could beat anyone on any give day, we should enjoy it, because history suggests it will likely be a while before we see another one.
Winning yesterday has vaulted the the Jets into favorites to win the AFC. In all my years of being a Jets fan there has been exactly one time that I could make that claim after 11 games. That would be 1986, unfortunately that season didn't work out the way we hoped it would. Only time will tell if this season does.
We are definitely the team to beat in the AFC right now. 1986 - AAAAHH!!! We started amazingly and ended disasterously - I think this year will be the opposite!!
The Jets just got through the toughest part of the schedule and swept. Beautiful. All they have to do now is stay consistent.
jil, you remember back a few years (hell, you can go back 6 or 7 years even) and all the harping you and I and a few others did about our lack of a dominant DT? I was even in on the Wilfork bandwagon. And now, watching Jenkins own the middle of the LOS, don't you feel totally vindicated? Nothing changes a defense more than a dominant DT/NT. This team is really on to something special, jil.
