How about a whole thread made by you titled "Maybe ESPN was correct about Brick" http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=14723&highlight=brick http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=387506&postcount=55 Need I post more?
Why do people continue to read his drivel? We just beat the "best team" in the NFL, not just beat them; dismantled them. The week before that we went into Cheatsboro and beat the Cheats. 2 weeks before that we broke Cheeseburger Berman's heart by stomping his Buffalo Bills. Let these so called experts take shots, he still has us as the #2 team in the NFL bad joke and all. The reason he put that stupid joke is to piss people off because he has no choice but to accept the fact that the Jets currently are the team to beat in the AFC. BTW the Cheats are definately not the 4th best team in the NFL.... they aren't even the 4th best team in the AFC.....
Champ has no idea what player development is. He'll attack Gholston and Brick, but never talk about Mangold, Revis, or Keller. If he can't piss and moan, its not worth it to him, and if it is positive news, it becomes about the Jets not winning a Super Bowl. its not credible at this point. But alas, it is the internetz
Yeah. That plus the Springsteen halftime show reference makes it seem like a positive reference to me, not some kind of cut. It sounded to me like he's seriously pumped, not that he's dissing anyone. I think some of you are too overly sensitive about this Jersey stuff. The guy gives us the highest power ranking he possibly could (I'm sorry, no way we could be put above Giants, not yet anyway), and you guys bust him for a harmless journalistic device. p.s. I just created another thread for something King wrote about what Favre said to him last night about playing for the Jets.
When I clicked on this thread I thought it was going to be about the fact that he doesn't have Favre on his list of possible MVPs. My mistake.
Chew on this one for awhile. What IF both the Giants and Jets get the #1 seed and get to the title game? Normally, it is no big deal to just change the day somebody plays but it is a HUGE deal to change the conference championship game. That mean two of the teams would get one less day to prepare. That has never been done. If they don't, however, that means both games have to be played on Sunday at the stadium.
The year we played Miami in the Mud Bowl, the Dallas at Washington NFC Championship game was the Saturday before it. That year, because of the strike, there was only one week to the Super Bowl, so the extra day was a much bigger difference than it would be this year with a two week gap. I'm not sure why they had the NFC game a day early that year, but they did. Seems to me they have Saturday playoff games in the first two rounds, I don't see what the big deal is to have it for the Championship game round too if they have to.
I think it would be easier to have it on a Monday night than on the Saturday before. Of course that can't happen either because of who owns the rights.
I keep hearing that but I don't understand it. They have playoffs on Saturdays every year, never on Monday nights. It was done the time I mentioned in 1982-83 and also the 1985 Wild Card round. Back then it was usually two games on a Sunday, but the Jets and Giants were both the home Wild Card teams so the Jets played New England on the Saturday. Made for a good trivia question--Jets played the first playoff game ever at Giants Stadium, by one day, even though the Giants got there 8 years earlier.
The reason I hate King is that unlike Bob Ryan and the rest of the Pats homers who cover the Pats in Boston, King writes for a national rather than a local publication - SI - and yet still can't seem to find a way to not take shots at the Jets while always favoring the Pats. Fuck him and his Springfield, MA upbringing.
Who really cares? Technically, the Packers don't even play football in Green Bay. Lambeau Field is in Ashwaubenon.
To be honest, the idea that we create a thread for every negative thing an analyst says about us is silly.
I was 7 years old at that game...still the only pro sports championship clinching game I've ever been too...I remember some complete fuckin stranger picked me up and ran up and down the stairs screaming "hell yeah!!" Good times...Marty Brodeur will probably retire as the most underrated player in tri-state sports history just because few give a fuck about hockey.
Maybe I missed alot of this stuff...but in the links I've seen on here rarely have I thought it was King blatantly knocking us. He's a good writer really...one of the few columnists I still read from SI.
Agreed. I was at the Cup clincher vs Detroit in 1995, sat there for six periods with the Cup in the house vs Dallas in 2000 but they won it on the road. I also was there for Game 6 vs Colorado with the Cup in the house but we lost the game and then the series. The 2000 and 2003 Cups I did get to see in the parking lot celebration.
