Kris Jenkins and Calvin Pace have been fantastic additions to the Jets and they deserve all the praise they have been receiving in the press. But let's not forget the Jets vets that have really stepped it up this year. Shaun Ellis leads the team with 6.5 sacks and Eric Barton leads the team with 72 tackles.
H'mm when you give up over 500 yards to a rookie QB there is not much to cheer about sorry to say. Especially if you are considering this team to be a SB caliber team
Did you enjoy the game this week Champ? Ellis is one behind Seymours career high for sacks, what do you think of that?
someone who played in the NFL, and then became a great analyst such as Ron Jawarski would love to sit you down and actually teach you the game of football
Barton has stuck it out and remains on this team. I thought he would have been a cut casualty two years ago. Ellis emerged after abraham left and now he's got a supporting cast that will only help him hold the fort. This team has a good mixture of standouts and role players. Ellis and Barton being two!
Ellis was great while Abraham was here. He declined a little after Abraham left because he was getting all of the attention. He has since started to overcome it now that we have a true NT.
I haven't analyzed the stats, but the past couple of weeks Barton just seems to be all over the field. I've never noticed him so much. Gotta love it.
What rookie put up 500 yards on the Jets? Cassel is not a rookie, and it was 400 yards Thigpen threw for 280
It probably has something to do with Harris not being in the lineup. But Barton has always been a favorite of mine, and I swear he's the emotional leader of that defense.
I think the unsung hero list begins with Thomas Jones. In addition to his performance his durability has allowed the team to get by while being thin at the RB position. Prolly because athletic talent is more important at that position than anywhere else on the field RB tends to have the most turds, having a character guy like TJ at that position goes along way to making the team good in terms of character and preparation.
