Ok let's just put this out there...what is Brett Favres legacy with the NYJ as well as NFL fans from all over if this happens? What will Favre's legacy be in your own words if he gets a ring with 1 season as a Jet? PEACE!
Do you honestly think Jets fans are going to be asking themselves this question if the Jets win the Super Bowl with Favre? We could change the name of the new stadium to Favre Arena for all I would care. Just win one!!
IF, and it's still a somewhat big IF, Favre wins another superbowl, it would do much more for his overall legacy, than his legacy as a Jet. When talks come up about who's the best qb of all time, favre is usually dropped a few notches even with all his stats and wins and mvp's because of partly his interceptions (which is overrated, if you look at his int/attempt ratio it's pretty good), but more importantly his super bowl record. He only has 2 appearances, and 1 win, which is pretty average for "great qbs" apparently. If he would have 2 wins in 3 appearances, that would be a big boost to his legacy, it would definetly bump him over elway for those who still prefer him because he has one more ring, and ended on a high note with 2 in a row.
To answer the questions, I think the Jets would always be very thankful to Brett. However, it isn't like he has carried the team for most of the season. Even lately, it has been a team effort that has led to the wins. That is something they will have to do again if they want to win next week against the Titans. Now seriously, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It was a great win by the Jets, but there is something I have learned lately. Don't get too high after wins or too low after losses. The Jets have some tough games coming up. While I hope they win all of them, if they do lose to good teams I am not going to get too down on this team. If they win, I am also not going to start thinking they are SB bound. A lot has to happen along the way.
Not as a starter, no. I'm not sure about someone who was a backup, but the only starter to even appear in 2 SBs with 2 teams was Craig Morton. He lost both.
As a starter No, however Jim McMahon picked up his 2nd SB ring as Favre's back-up after winning with the 85' Bears. Oddly enough both of McMahon's rings came against the Pats--ain't that a shame?
In other words, if Favre does win SB this year (it looks highly improbable, mind you) he will be the first QB ever to win 2 SB rings as a starting QB, right?
The manic-depressive tendencies of the New York Jets football fan is proven yet again. Can we learn to walk before we run please???
I second that emotion. We beat the Pats and people as well as reporters all of sudden are talking SB. We beat the Titans Sunday and I may start to consider SB thoughts until we beat a team like Tennessee no way. :jets:
