I used to have a loser mentality. Basically, my entire life I have had one.

When I heard rumors of Favre coming to the Jets, I was upset. I did not want all of Favre's media and crap coming to New York.

I was happy with the moves the Jets made this offseason. I felt that Chad Pennington should start over Kellen Clemens and if all goes well, the Jets could atleast go 8-8 this season, maybe even go 10-6 and get the Wild Card. Going from 4-12 to 8-8 seemed good enough though.

And I was happy with that! What a loser. That lack of killer instinct the Jets seem to have right now, I have as a fan. I never really thought the Jets should win any game. I am starting to now. Good teams should feel that way. I am not saying at all that I think the Jets are a Super Bowl team right now.

I am saying that I am hoping for a division title instead of 8-8 though. I am saying that when the Jets are down in the 4th I am not as worried. I am saying that in the Chiefs game with all the mistakes and problems in the game, something just told me the Jets would win. Favre would pull it out.

I remember Winstonbiggs saying that Jets fans were fine with mediocrity. I talked to him about it one day. He was right. I didn't mind settling for mediocrity, now I want more. As every fan should. This team can beat anyone, they just have to play well. A winning swagger is an awesome thing to have, but thats not all Favre has. He is fun to watch! The offense is much more exciting than it has been in 8 years. Even if Schotty calls a bad game here and there.

Bottom line is, Favre is a winner and he is slowly making this franchise and its fans believe they can win. I have gone into every game the last 2 months feeling there is a realistic shot the Jets can win. I have not done that for a long time. Here's to Jett Favre and the Future Flyers!

kind of a funny thread, but I agree in some regards.

I, too at first was a little upset that we were getting Farve because it seemed like thats all everyone would talk about and the Jets would be secondary to Farve, but for the most part Farve isnt the only Jets player the media focuses on.

But I think Farve has changed me as a fan in a differant way. He's made me have more fun watching the games, maybe its his style of play or his wacky demenor. Before when the Jets threw interceptions I would shout several curse words and potentially could have been put on suicide watch haha, now I just like ehh whatever that's what Brett does and I still have confidence we can come back from it.

ha! i live in bills country too, its been pretty funny these last three weeks seeing the complete 180 they've pulled on their team. 3 weeks ago, they were a cocky bunch and if u asked them becoming superbowl champions was a foregone conclusion. Now, people are doubting if they'll win another game HAHA

I was pissed. I wanted Favre to retire... I didn't want his old ass on this team. Now I pray that he stays next season. He's had bad games that's for sure, but Brett Favre instills hope into his teammates, the coaching staff and fans. He's one hell of a player.

I too, was weary of brett coming to the jets, mostly because of all the media and crap, but one thing any football fan can appreciate about favre is his passion for the game. The man pours his heart and soul into every down, a very emotional player and you have to appreciate him. Its been great seeing him play in a jets uniform every sunday. He still scares the shit out of me sometimes though.

This has been a weird season for me. I've never in my life experienced a season where:

-A winning team was so frustrating to watch
    -The players were this talented
-The coaching scheme worked against the team rather than in favor of it

I really think that this season could be "the year" if the Jets have the same thing happen to them that happened to the Giants last year, which was that they started firing on all cylinders at the end of the year...

We may not have seen the best out of this team yet folks!

And the best part about it, Favre provides the ability to overcome the hump that Chad never could seem to...

I agree with this thread 1000%!!!

Ever since Favre joined the Jets, I felt like the missing piece of the puzzle completed the team. I am looking forward to watching the Jets excel for the rest of this season and far into the postseason.

I was happy to get Favre, was just disappointed at his age. However, he seems to be playing in a way that his age doesn't matter too much. The Jets are putting the pieces together finally. Next week is a huge test, but I think the Division is a great shot for this team. I just hope that this isn't a one or two year thing.

As a lifelong Jets fan, it's time for this team to finally become a regular playoff team which they've never been.

As someone who followed Favre here, I've tried to be selective about the frequency and amplitude of my praise for this side of his play, the unbridled enthusiasm -- and many would probably say I failed, lol. Because if stated too strongly, it can sound corny. And many were "weary" of him, as you say you were (though I will strongly argue, it's not at all because Brett seeks it out, it's because the story seeks him out. IMO he is actually the anti-Ocho Cinco). And, finally, he is actually a lot more subdued and mellow now than 10-15 years back, the enthusiasm is actually a bit tempered, so I didn't know if it would be obvious to new fans. But it looks like it is, and I'm glad. I feel sorry for football fans, Favre-haters, who have and will never "get" this dimension of Favre football.

It's been a distinct pleasure for me to witness the vast majority of his games, and I'm glad others outside this little backwoods outpost are finally getting a taste of what'd been going down here the last decade and a half. There was NO sporting event a tenth as fun as a Green Bay Packer football game.

I thought about that yesterday. I was like, man I am so lucky to be watching Favre as my QB right now. Then I thought, damn those Packers fans have been lucky for 16 years. That had to be a fun ride.

You have no idea how much fun it was especially when he was younger and had an even stronger arm and was a little more mobile. I remember him laying a wicked shot on a 320 lb defender and they carried that guy out of the game and I'm just cussing at Favre for getting in harm's way. Still is fun, hope it continues next year.

Yeah, I've been going through some weird emotions this year. I actually think Aaron Rodgers is pretty good, will maybe even be great, and at some level the trade makes sense to me. But I've been wrestling with something that finally came to head two weeks ago, when the Packers and Jets were both on at the same time here in Green Bay. That was the first time both were on simultaneously live (I don't get NFL ticket). I started watching the Packers, but at half time I just couldn't help it, I switched to the Jets. Even though the Packers were playing a fairly competitive game against the Titans.

I thought about it since, and I figured out what the difference is. Favre is often just a big kid out there, sometimes doing the goofiest stuff, seemingly just because he can. It can be infuriating, but watch it long enough and you maybe get to the point that you see it work often enough (like the 4th down heave to Stuckey in week 1 as he was going down, or the stumbling shovel pass in the snow against the Seahawks in the playoffs last year) that I have long ago come take it in stride.

Rodgers is a cool Cali kid, it's not the same. Aaron Rodgers vs Brett Favre is maybe like Robocop vs. John Wayne. If I have to bet my life on it (or my career, like Ted Thompson), maybe I go with Robocop, but sitting with a beer and just watching? I cheer for John Wayne. He makes it a LOT easier to forget that your watch a bunch of millionaires out there who are first and foremost playing for their next contract, or to meet personal incentives. Absolutely nothing against Rodgers, I probably wouldn't be any more entertaining if I had the talent to do that, but ... it is what it is. Maybe I'll be more "invested" in Rodgers after a few years, and I might realize that Favre was not that spectacularly special after all. But right now, Favre engages my emotions on a whole different level.
