Enjoying the afterglow of an exciting, last minute win over our fiercest division rival, it takes me back to another moment in time. 00:16: "Todd drops back...fires into the endzone...Barkum...touchdown!" We claimed first place over the Dolphins in a November game and felt like we were on our way. Ultimately, it did help us make the playoffs as a wildcard, but we let the division slip away with another hideous loss to the Seahawks. Bottom line is, winning in Tennessee is not a luxury. If we want to claim this division, get the home games, maybe grab a bye, we can't afford to slip up. I think the Tennesee game is a lock by the way...but we must be just as ready for the Denvers, San Frans, and there they are again like a ghost, a "bad" Seattle team in mid December. KEEP WINNING JETS...WE WANT SOME HOME SLICES THIS YEAR!
I know we can...as tough as they are, it's a good matchup for us. TJones may not make a lot of yards on their front 7, but we can pass on them and I don't think they can keep up. I just hope they come in still unbeaten....although, if Jax does beat them and we beat 'em, we're only 1 game behind for the #1 seed. It's good either way!
We can afford a loss in Tennesee as long as ran the table afterwards. Seattle owend us back in the early 80s, we don't have a team like that on our sched.
I wouldn't call Tennessee a lock, but with our run D, we stand an excellent chance of beating them. Still, it's going to take a consistent effort up front on both sides of the ball for a full game, which we didn't see last night. I also think the 10 days of practice will help to get our secondary back on track and able to craft at least the beginning of an identity with Law in there. We lacked that as well.
I just knew you'd find a way to be a downer today, GSourJr. Thanks for reaffirming my conception of the order of things!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Tennessee a lock? Man, I want what your smoking bro. If I could walk on water yada yada yada. That's gonna be a hard fought game.
Two great historical references: 1. That Todd to Barkum game was great. The field was covered with garbage. 2. Seattle was awful and Jets lost to them all the time. Always seemed to be a dark, gloomy day -- and Zorn (and I think a rookie Krieg) -- killed them. I think that the Tennessee game is a "house money" game -- but as good as they are -- they are not the 2007 Pats -- they play close games -- Jets should be in it until end.
I think the game he's referring to was Krieg's first game as a pro and he killed us. But you're right, Tennessee is a good team and it's almost a house money game now. Those Seattle teams were bad, except when they played us.
