Awesome. I was at that 1998 game. I'll gladly be wrong about Favre, if he can be the 1998 Vinny down the stretch and into the playoffs you can call me out every week. We're alone in first place, Baby! He's come here and fit in better than I thought he would, good for him, good for us.

None of it was about Chad for me. I had soured on Favre in recent years, but he's come here and he's been what we hoped he would be, in victory and defeat. I was confident that we'd have been successful with Chad this year and he's proving to everyone that he's not finished, either.

Bottom line, I'm a Jet fan. When Vinny was here I was behind Vinny, when Chad was here I was behind Chad, now Favre is here and I'm behind Favre. Vinny was 12-1 as a starter in 1998 and we went to the AFC Championship game, that's what I based my comments on this summer. I still hope Favre keeps proving me wrong. It's a hell of a lot better than being right and being miserable. I'm not champ. I'll tell you one thing, I'm going to relax and enjoy the rest of this NFL weekend.

    Good post and thank you.

This Chad Farve nonsense is useless blather at the end of the day I root for the Jets, and will root for anyone who is taking the snap from center.

Didn't we finish that season 12-4 and get to the AFC Championship game and have the eventual SB winners on the ropes?

Favre needs to go 5-1 down the stretch and then win at least one playoff game and a half before he's matched Vinny.

I'm a huge Vinny fan, don't throw him under the bus for Favre. Vinny was great, I loved having him as our QB. Herm wasted his talents, or else I think maybe he'd have gotten us an SB. I'll enjoy it if Favre brings it home for us no doubt, but Vinny was a Jet through and through and it would have been more special. imo.

We had Parcells and bilicheat helping Vinny.

We can only dream of coaching that good these days.

If the Jets win Vinny deserves to be on this team in some capacity.

Vinny was a local guy and grew up as a Jet fan. That helped make me a bigger fan, too. But I'm back on the Favre bandwagon. I loved it when he came up in the 90s because I was so sick of the Cowboys and 49ers every year in the NFC. I got tired of the tearful retirements, the media worship and the drama all summer, so I was against him coming here, especially when it was said he didn't want to play here. Plus I thought we'd have to give up much more than a conditional draft pick at the time. It's all water under the bridge now.

Yeah, ultimately Vinny's team came up short, but through no fault of his. At this stage we can still hope for Favre's team to surpass that. As Joe Namath always says and he's right, it's about the team, not just the QB.

It's funny you mention Namath..... these guys have been completely different on offense after he took shots at them on live TV.
