Matt Cassel is gonna' shit a brick if it's pouring and he can't see the Kris Jenkins pass rush coming from his blind side.
We've gone into Foxborough in the rain/mud and won. Granted, different team at the time, but hey, it's been done. This game is going to be predominantly run, for the Jets at least, so T. Jones and the O-Line need to be on top of their game.
Foxborough MA Today: Showers likely, mainly after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 48. Calm wind becoming south between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Tonight: Rain, mainly before 4am. Patchy fog after midnight. Low around 44. South wind between 9 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Rain probably benefits the patriots ore than the jets, rain usually hurts the medium to deep passing game, and hurts speed backs more than power backs. Since the pats have no downfield passing game to speak of, and will beplaying 2 powerbacks it doesn't effect them much, while it helps neutralize the deep threat from favre, an the outside runs with leon. run stopping is the better facet for both defenses, so ifthe field gets sloppy it could be a very low scoring game. I do worry that Favre's propensity for gambles could be made worse by a wet ball, leading to even more INTs than usual.
According to the Weather Channel, Boston will have steady rain from 3:00 PM on and 10 MPH winds at gametime.
On NFL Network last night they were speculating that Cassell might have never played in the rain. He played his high school ball in Southern California and didn't play much again until this year.
Latest weather.com forecast for Foxboro has rain starting in mid-afternoon, and turning to showers by 9 PM. Total rainfall less than 1/2 inch.
Footballs will be slippery and passing game will be thrown off some. A good game for TJ to just bull his way for 100+ yards.
Looking out the window right now. Seems like some light snow-rain shit or something. Nothing heavy atm tho
It'll allow the secondary to cheat up more and take away the short routes. I can't imagine trying to go deep to Moss in crappy weather. It'll be an advantage if the Jets can make it an advantage with their gameplan. That's on Mangini.
They haven't gone to Moss all year. Nobody is saying it out loud but I suspect that Cassel has as weak an arm as Pennington has.
Matt Cassel has NEVER played in the rain in his career ever. Not in college not in the pros. He don't know bout rain and the NFL. Fumble time!
