DeAngelo Hall-DB- Raiders Nov. 4 - 8:17 pm et NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Raiders are on the verge of releasing CB DeAngelo Hall. Stunning. The dysfunctional Raiders parted with a second round pick and $8 million dollars for the opportunity to play Hall for half of one season. Oakland doesn't want to risk paying $16 million in injury-guaranteed bonuses, so Hall is expected to be placed on waivers shortly. Trading for Hall was a disasterous move, but give the Raiders credit for cutting their losses. No team will take on that contract, so "Big Hat, No Cattle" could sign elsewhere. Could Javon Walker be next? ProFootballTalk cites a league source who claims the Raiders will continue to purge as many as 15 players before next season. Source: NFL.com
just crazy ! to throw all that $$ at a guy and give up draft picks & then release him Raiders are some kind of odd-ball franchise.
The Raiders would be a great study to do for a dissertation. How to not do business on the field but still make a fortune off of a "lemmings" fan base.
Here is a clarification on what a lemming is: The act of following the crowd into an investment that will inevitably head for disaster.
While we're at it, let's cut Javon Walker and Tommy Kelly, too. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_relatednews.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2978 ProFootballTalk cites a league source who claims the Raiders will continue to purge as many as 15 players before next season. The source believes Javon Walker and Tommy Kelly will highlight that purge, with the idea being to throw that money at Nnamdi Asomugha for a long-term deal. If the Raiders are willing to cut ties with DeAngelo Hall because of injury and contract concerns, it makes sense that Walker will be the next "name" Oakland Raiders=New York Knicks of the NFL=laughingstock
^ if thats true, then they will have more double-digit loss seasons. This franchise is awesome to watch burn.
this is so damn hilarious. A valuable draft pick and a ton of money ($24.5 million guaranteed, not sure if that includes his 2008 base salary). After a few games, senile Davis realizes he's not much good. Gone. Awesome.
Actually I think this is a great move by the Raiders. Seems like Al Davis had a bright moment and realized, that his last offseason was a complete failure.
It's not good. I'm sure the cap hits they are going to take will set them back another 5 years. Of course they do have that uncapped year coming up which is why he probably chose now to do it.
I bet Tommy Kelly and DeAngelo Hall start playing up to their talent levels the second they get signed by stable organizations.
I think that is one aspect of why these players suck when they get to Oakland. They just don't give a shit anymore, its all about a paycheck.
The cap is exactly the reason, why they do this now. I guess Davis realized, that signing guys like Aso and Morisson is a better Idea than letting them walk to play Walker, Kelly and Hall.
Apparently it is official now as it regards to Hall anyway. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8758916/Report:-Raiders-waive-Hall,-eye-Walker-next
