I think NE is going to start to fade off a bit. The bills will be around most hte year, and miami will be around .500, which believe it or not would be a hell of a season for them based on the past handful of years. So, I think the jets can pull away, and the next month will determine that. Just imagine, beating hte rams, getting revenge agianst NE, and possibly beating the only undefeated team left in the nfl? (and if not undefeated, obviously one of the best teams along with the giants). The jets have a real chance to get the ball rolling and get in the upper echelon. It's all in their hands.
We will beat the Pats and we will beat both the Bills and Dolphins one more time. You heard it here. Yesterday's win was HUGE, gentlemen. It brought this team together. It showed the non-believers it's possible. It united the team around Mangini's philosophies. It elevated the future play of anyone not involved in the elevated play of the game yesterday. Yesterday's win opened the door to the playoffs. All contributed. All saw the results. Yesterday's win cannot be considered anything but HUGE. It was the turning point. It was the crossroads. Call it what you'd like. We can now we build off of this HUGE win. Damn... I need to get into motivational speaking as a second career.
I hope you're right but I disagree. Our division is just too good to win all those. I will be happy with 4-2 in division.
http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=93318 the discrepancy is unbelievable! I vote Jets and thats unbiased.
That is being very positive. I think the division is too tough for that to actually happen. It will be a great race. More then ever it is going to boil down to who can stay healthy and hot throughout the second half of the year. Best of luck the rest of the way.
It would be nice to see the Jets win the division. It has been awhile. If they keep playing the way they did in buffalo they should come out on top. Just as long as it is not the freaking pats.:jets:
I'd really like to see you guys in second this year and the Pats and Bills in the bottom half of the division. It would be fitting for what our teams did last year.
Couple of positive things; Jets are stopping the run, rushing the passer, you need that to win when weather gets bad. Giants did pretty well last year with that fomula. Regardless of how they got there, they have pulled out wins the last 2 games. Coles made great catch against Chiefs, great time consuming drive Sunday, ahead 2 scores, and Reavis seals the deal with a great pick. In other words, somebody MADE A PLAY, which is what good teams do. They have to improve and play their best in upcoming games, I think they can.
I had to vote for Pats, sorry. We play them at their house, and if they win (and if the game were today they would be favored) that not only does that put some distance in the standings, but it's almost like two wins because they'll own the tiebreaker. A sober, unemotional assessment says the Pats have the inside line on the division title right now.
I know people will probably disagree with me but I just don't see Miami as a realistic threat to win the division. While they have played admirably, I just don't think they are quite as good as the other three teams (on a consistent basis). I think they will certainly lose their two remaining division games on the road (@jets, @bills) and could easily be upset by NE at home (the pats will give them a big effort after getting blown out by them in week 3). I also think Chad and the dolphins offense will have one bad game on the road against a team you don't expect where their running game will get shut down and they will only score 10-13 points on offense and will lose a low scoring game. (I could easily see this happening to them in St Louis, where Chad has a typical bad game for him against a press coverage based defense where he can't make plays down the field) I think they will probably finish at 9-7 and will finish a game short of 10 wins and a wildcard berth. (I also love our matchup with them for the last game of the season at home. I think we are a terrible opponent for them because we stop the run and so much of what they do is based on their running game) As for us, I think we are winning either 11 or 12 games. I see us beating up on the Rams this week and going 1-1 in the hard two game stretch of @NE and @Tenn. Then I see us playing really well down the stretch of the season and going a minimum of 4-1, and quite possibly, 5-0 in the last five games. (The one loss could be to Buffalo at home, I DO NOT see us losing to Denver at home. I think we will smack Denver up and down the field) I think this will be enough to win the division but we will probably be the 3rd seed and have to play a home game on wildcard weekend. I think the Pats or Bills are a tossup for ONE Wildcard spot in the AFC. (I think one will probably go to either the Ravens or the Colts - I think teams like the Jaguars, Broncos, and Browns are probably done) I think these two teams will finish either 10-6 or 11-5. Personally, I favor the Patriots over the Bills in this scenario but I could easily be wrong. Both are very good teams but I trust the Pats a little more than I do the Bills. I think the Pats are stronger on both the offensive and defensive lines and that is the main differnce between the two teams. (I see buffalo's mediocre offensive line play as being potentially very detrimental to their success down the stretch) I could see a scenario where both teams finish 10-6 and it comes down to a tie breaker. (I think they will split, so head to head won't decide it and the team with the better division record - which will probably be NE since I could see the Bills getting swept by us and both teams splitting with both each other and Miami - will get the other Wildcard spot in the AFC)
I just want to add that the main reason I like our chances so much down the stretch, is that I think we have the three most important ingredients for winning football games in December and january: 1) we have a great run Defense, 2) we have a very good pass rush, 3) we have a QB, who despite his tragic flaw of being overly mistake prone, has the unique physical ability to ALWAYS be a threat to take us down the field, with the game on the line in the 4th quarter, against any team in the league. The Pats only have 2 out of 3 The bills only have 2 out of 3 The dolphins only have 2 out of 3
Has anyone seen the Pats schedule in the next 4 games??? Bills Jets Miami Steelers They could go 1-3/2-2. I think we get revenge next thursday.
im hoping they go 1-3 but 3 of those games they play at home. i think they'll go 2-2 we'll beat em and the steelers, i think they'll get revenge on the phins in miami and beat the bills at home.
thats what I was thinking too. I think Miami gets whacked in these next few games because division opponents aren't going to be fooled by the bullshit they pull.
Actually, based on the remaining games I put the Pats in 4th place. Anybody could go on a run and end the discussion fairly easily, however the Pata look likely to top out at 10 wins based on who they play and all the other teams seem more likely to go for 10.5. That makes the Pats the cellar team. What a year that would be, 16-0 to 4th place while possibly the Dolphins go 1-15 to 1st.
The Pats could go 0-4 against that schedule although they're probably most likely to go 2-2. There's not a team on that list that couldn't put a hurt on the Pats right now.
Did you know Ben R. got hurt last night and had an MRI today? If Steelers are playing their backup QB (way to soon to say, but if), then i think things look a lot better for Patsies there. Like I posted earlier, I think in the final analysis it all comes down to what we do in Foxboro. And you have to concede they will be favored, they beat us once already and will have home field this time.
I am very happy right now to be 4-4 after going 1-15 last season. We shall see. we have the Seahawks and then the Raiders.
