The New York Jets signed DE Jarvis Jenkins, formerly of the Chicago Bears, to a 2-year contract worth $7M, which includes $3M in guaranteed money. Jenkins, 27, was a second round pick by the Washington Redskins in 2012. After spending the first 3 years of his career with the Redskins, he signed with the Bears last year and had career best total of 4.0 sacks.
The Jets are also expected to finalize a deal with NT Steve McLendon, whom they view as a replacement for departed NT Damon Harrison. McLendon, 30, entered the league as an undrafted free agent and spent all 8 years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Meanwhile, the Jets lost another player to free agency, as LB Demario Davis signed with the Cleveland Browns.
