Following RB Chris Ivory's departure to Jacksonville, the Jets promptly filled the void with RB Matt Forte, formerly of the Chicago Bears. Forte, 30, is expected to sign a 3-year deal worth $12M with $8M in guaranteed money and an additional $4M in escalators.
Forte has spent his entire 8-year NFL career with the Bears and has rushed for 1,000 yards five times in his career. He's also a prolific receiver, as he's the only RB who caught over 100 passes in a single season.
The Gang Green also re-signed TE Zach Sudfeld who was a restricted free agent.
The team continues negotiating with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick but, according to various sources, they are nowhere near reaching a deal. The Jets have just $7M of salary cap space (4th lowest in the league), which doesn't really give them much room to offer Fitzpatrick a starter's money.
