According to various sources, the New York Jets are expected to hire Mike Maccagnan as their new general manager. Maccagnan, who's now a scouting director with the Houston Texans, is viewed as a very good talent evaluator, something previous GM John Idzik wasn't considered when the Gang Green hired him two years ago. Maccagnan, however, has no experience with salary cap management and contract negotiations.
Meanwhile, Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has emerged as the favorite to land the head coaching gig. Although the Jets might also talk to Gary Kubiak, Ravens offensive coordinator who became available yesterday after Baltimore's loss in the playoffs. Kubiak was the Texans' head coach from 2006 to 2013 and has a career record of 63-66, including 2-2 in the playoffs.
Former Jets head coach, Rex Ryan, is reportedly going to become head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
