In a rather surprising twist of events, the New York Jets have announced that QB Mark Sanchez will start on Sunday in the season finale against the Buffalo Bills. QB Greg McElroy, who started last week against the San Diego Chargers and was supposed to start against Buffalo, reportedly suffered a concussion. The team discovered McElroy's condition earlier today after he experienced severe headaches while lifting weights. McElroy was sacked 11 times and suffered an abdominal injury in the loss against San Diego.
Rex Ryan said he chose Sanchez over QB Tim Tebow because of Sanchez's past success against the Bills. He threw three touchdowns against them in a 48-28 win in Week 1.
This is yet another blow to Tim Tebow, who has complained openly about his lack of opportunities this season. There's little doubt that Tebow will be let go as soon as this season is over.
