CB Antonio Cromartie and S LaRon Landry will represent the New York Jets at the Pro Bowl, as they both made the AFC squad as backups. Following the season-ending injury to CB Darrelle Revis, Cromartie became the Jets' premier shutdown corner and has performed admirably. He's defended 13 passes, intercepted 3 and returned one of his interceptions for a touchdown so far this season.
Landry, who was signed as a free agent prior to this season, turned out to be a great acquisition. He's forced 4 fumbles, defended 9 passes, intercepted 2 and also returned one of his interceptions for a touchdown. Landry has also registered 95 total tackles, already matching his career best.
This was the first Pro Bowl selection for Landry and second one for Cromartie, who made the Pro Bowl in 2007 as a member of the San Diego Chargers.
Noticeably, C Nick Mangold, a perennial Pro Bowler and All-Pro, did not make the team. The same goes for OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who also made the squad in previous three years. This time, Ferguson was named the second alternate selection, Mangold the third. RB/KR Joe McKnight was the third alternate as the kick returner.
