WR Braylon Edwards is back with the Gang Green after being claimed off waivers this afternoon. He was released on Monday by the Seattle Seahawks after catching just 8 passes for 74 yards, 1 TD for them this season. Edwards is expected to step in for rookie WR Stephen Hill, who suffered a sprained knee on Sunday against the Jaguars.
Edwards was traded to the Jets in 2009 from the Cleveland Browns. In 2009 and 2010 he caught 88 passes for 1,445 yards and 11 touchdowns, while playing for the green and white. The Jets allowed Edwards to walk following the 2010 season, opting to sign WR Santonio Holmes instead. Edwards went to the 49ers on a 1-year deal before joining Seattle this year.
The Jets released RB Kahlil Bell earlier today to make room for Edwards.
