The New York Jets re-signed another member of last year's secondary - S Brodney Pool, who started in 12 regular games last season and in all 3 playoff games. Last year Pool, 27, registered 53 tackles (39 solo), 1 sack, 1 interception and defended 11 passes. The Dallas Cowboys showed late interest in Pool, which may have motivated the Jets to get a deal done. So, the Gang Green quickly signed him to a 1-year deal. Pool got off to a slow start last season as he learned a new system, but he improved late in the year.
Also, WR Derrick Mason in reportedly on his way to Florham Park to take a physical tomorrow. If he passes, the Jets are expected to offer him a contract. Mason, 37, is obviously approaching the end of his long NFL career but he still caught 61 passes for 802 yards last season while playing for the Baltimore Ravens.
