Jets select Vladimir Ducasse in round 2

Admin - April 23, 2010

The New York Jets selected OG Vladimir Ducasse from the University of Massachusetts with their #61 overall pick in the second round. Ducasse, 6'4", 334lbs, has relatively little experience playing football, as he began playing only in 2003 after arriving in the Unisted States from Haiti. The University of Massachusetts product, however, compensates his lack of experience with great work ethic and athleticism.

Ducasse was an All-American first team selection in his senior year and rated as the best offensive lineman below the major college level by The NFL Draft Report. He started all 11 games, recording an 85.55% grade for blocking consistency, as he delivered 90 knockdowns and 16 touchdown-resulting blocks, as he guided an offensive line that ranked second in the CAA for fewest sacks allowed.

This selection clearly sends a message to All-Pro OG Alan Faneca whose days as a Jet are most likely numbered. There have been rumors about the Jets releasing Faneca in the near future, and now these rumors will be fueled even more by this draft selection.
