The New York Jets are hosting their first free agents this offseason - S Brodney Pool (Browns) and CB Marlin Jackson (Colts). The Jets, who have recently gotten rid of S Kerry Rhodes, CB Donald Strickland and CB Lito Sheppard, lack depth in their secondary and we should expect more free agent defensive backs in Florham Park in the coming days.
The interesting thing here is that both Pool (concussion) and Jackson (knee) have an extensive injury history and the main reason the Jets parted ways with both Sheppard and Strickland is because neither could stay on the field because of a variety of injuries.
Pool, a former second-round pick, is a non-tendered restricted free agent, meaning the Jets can sign him without giving up any compensation.
Jackson, a one-time first-round selection, is a street free agent and can sign with anyone. He, however, has finished the past two seasons on the injured list with knee injuries.
Update: CB Marlin Jackson has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
