The New York Jets have placed a second-round tender on RB Leon Washington, which is basically a 1-year deal worth $1.759M that gives the Jets the right of first refusal. If another team makes a bid to sign Washington and the Jets decline to match the offer, the Gang Green would receive a second-round pick.
The team also put a 2nd round tender on WR Brad Smith, a fourth-round pick in 2006, and as expected, stamped a 1st and 3rd round tender on WR Braylon Edwards, which is 110 percent of his 2009 salary of $4.55M or slightly more than $5M.
Also, according to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, the Jets are "extremely" interested in CB Antonio Cromartie despite some reports to the contrary. The fit makes some sense because the Jets use press coverage in the back end, and with Cromartie's ball skills, he'd theoretically capitalize on all the passes coming his way opposite CB Darrelle Revis.
