The New York Jets matched Washington's offer sheet and kept RB/KR Chad Morton in New York. Morton will receive a 5-year contract, which includes a $2.5M signing bonus, minimum base salaries from 2003-2005, a base of $1.8M in 2006 and of $2M for the 2007 season.
Now the Jets also have one week to match Washington's offer sheet for WR Laveranues Coles, but it's quite doubtful that Coles is in Gang Green's plans. According to the latest rumors, the Jets are interested in wide receivers Darrell Jackson, Curtis Conway, and Kevin Dyson.
