Following the loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-9, the 0-8 New York Jets traded LB Avery Williamson to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Gang Green will also send a 7th round pick in 2022 in exchange for Pittsburgh's 5th round pick in 2022.
Williamson, 28, signed a 3-year contract with the Gang Green in 2018. He started all 16 games at inside linebacker, recording career high 120 total tackles (80 solo) and 3.0 sacks in his first year in New York. He tore his ACL in the second preseason game of 2019 and missed the entire 2019 season. Williamson came back this year, starting in 6 games. He had an interception against Arizona and team best 11 tackles against Miami.
NFL trading deadline just a couple of days away, so don't be surprised if the Jets unload more of their expensive players to free up more salary cap room.
