Well, we finally have a consensus. Every power rankings website has the Jets as the worst team in the league. ProFootballTalk has finally come to their senses and downgraded the Jets to the "Turboprops." There was a rumor earlier this week that if the Gang Green were to lose tonight's game against the Broncos, it would be Adam Gase's last game as Jets head coach. However, there was another report earlier today stating that "firing Gase would not only be counterproductive in general, but also potentially damaging to quarterback Sam Darnold." I hate to say it but Darnold is already damaged, maybe even beyond repair. In any case, spending more time with the worst coach in the NFL won't do him any good. Just look at Tennessee's Ryan Tannehill, who seemed like damaged goods in Miami with Gase. He had a career best season last year, finishing with a 100+ QB rating for the first time in his NFL career and going to Pro Bowl. He has a 100+ QB rating this year again and his Titans are undefeated.
Then, there are all the injuries. Obviously, players gets injured in football but Gase's Jets take it to a totally different level. The Gang Green's injured reserve is filled with projected starters for the second year in a row. There's something fundamentally wrong with the Gase regime. The sooner it ends, the better it will be for the players and fans. Just End The Suffering!
Here's what the power rankings websites had to say about the Jets:
ESPN: Even without All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, traded before training camp, the expectation was that defensive coordinator Gregg Williams still would be able to scheme up ways to overcome a talent deficiency. It hasn't happened, as the Jets rank 32nd in pass defense. Even good coaches need good players, and the lack of pass rush, coupled with coverage problems, has been too much to overcome.
Sporting News: Adam Gase's team keeps getting throttled offensively and defensively. Now Sam Darnold is dragging things further down with sloppy play, on top of a shaky supporting cast.
CBS Sports: This team is a dumpster fire right now. There is no hope for a turnaround either. Do they make a coaching change?
ProFootballTalk: They’re about to be downgraded to the Turboprops.
Yahoo Sports: The Jets have been impossibly bad through three games. Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis had the damning stats: If the Jets don’t beat the banged-up Broncos at home on Thursday, we might have to start wondering if we’re witnessing a historically bad team.
NFL.com: Three weeks, three blowout losses. Sunday was another grim slog, as Sam Darnold threw three interceptions -- including two returned for scores -- in a 36-7 loss to the Colts. Darnold finds himself in an impossible situation, marooned on an injury-riddled and talent-poor roster with an unimaginative offensive scheme cooked up by an uninspiring head coach -- but he may force Joe Douglas' hand come next spring if the Jets land at or near the top of the draft and Darnold is coming off an ugly statistical season. This wasn't supposed to be the conversation around Darnold in Year 3, but these are the consequences for a Jets team that has done virtually everything wrong since his arrival.
