It’s time to go offense

Admin - November 14, 2018

As Todd Bowles pretty much sealed with fate last Sunday, getting embarrassed against the Buffalo Bills, it might be a good time to start looking for a replacement. Even though Bowles is reportedly going to last through the season, there's absolutely no way he keeps the job. The fans would revolt, as simple as that. As much as the Johnson brothers seem to love Bowles, they love profits even more. Money will be the deciding factor here.

The Jets haven't hired an offensive mind to be their head coach since… Rich Kotite. Ever since that dreadful season of 1996 the Gang Green have always hired a defensive coach to lead the team. Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick (for a day), Al Groh, Herman Edwards, Eric Mangini, Rex Ryan and Todd Bowles all held defensive coaching positions prior to being hired by the Jets.

Could a change in Jets coaching impact their performance and betting viability? It could be the start in the position direction. The offense has been awful and the Jets haven't been hitting their under lines. If you're in New Jersey, you can bet on the under on DraftKings Sportsbook or FanDuel Sportsbook. The books offer some home town cooking offers that are risk free. Look for Prop Bet Insurance bets, where you can bet on any Jets player prop and if you lose, you receive your money back up to $50. Sports betting online in New Jersey is legal and secure. You can use the mobile app or desktop website.

Now is the perfect time to finally go offense. The Jets have Sam Darnold, the first offensive player the Gang Green drafted in the first round since 2009, who needs to be developed in an offensive minded system. The Jets of the last two decades have always been defense first, offense second. But when you draft a quarterback at #3 overall, it's time to make the offense number one priority. That's why the Jets need an offensive mind to drive them forward.

Only twice in the last ten seasons (six with Rex Ryan and four with Bowles) Jets' offense ranked better than #20 in total yardage. Last time it happened in 2015 when Bowles' team surprised everyone with the Fitzmagic attack. It's been steadily going downhill ever since. The Gang Green finished 26th in total offense in 2016, 28th in 2017 and are now on pace to finish 30th.

The Johnson brothers have to act. They have to act before it's too late and Darnold turns into yet another Jets bust, one of many over the years. Sam Darnold needs an offensive head coach, he needs a system that would utilize his strengths and allow him to develop into the franchise quarterback we have been waiting for years.
