Given that Aaron Rodgers has consistently shown that he is one of the best in the NFL over the years he has been part of the Green Bay Packers franchise, it was hardly a surprise that he would be a wanted man this offseason.
He has continually entertained the idea of a potential trade to another franchise in years gone by as he appears to have grown frustrated with what has happened in recent times in Wisconsin. Nonetheless, it seems he has stayed put… for now.
However, if you look at the current odds being offered by platforms such as Bally Bet's Ohio sportsbook, it does appear that Rodgers could be on the move ahead of the next NFL season. Indeed, the New York Jets are one of those teams rumored to be interested.
New York Jets Interest Well Known
It does not seem to be a secret that Gang Green are interested in bringing Rodgers to New York this offseason. According to reports to have been circulated, general manager Joe Douglas has been openly admitting that he wants to bring the 1-time Super Bowl Champion and 4-time NFL MVP to MetLife Stadium.
Of course, the experienced 39-year-old would be an incredible move for the organization. Indeed, there does appear to be some concern regarding whether Zach Wilson can make it or whether he will be a bust; something many already appear to have categorized the young QB.
Something that could go in the franchise's favor regarding a possible move is the appointment of Nathaniel Hackett as the offensive coordinator. He has a prior relationship with Rodgers as the pair worked together for three years in Green Bay before the former moved to the Denver Broncos in a failed spell.
The quarterback has recently opened up on his love and the relationship he has with Hackett, admitting that he was "special" to him and made his time in the NFL more enjoyable.
Will the Jets Get Their Man?
Ultimately, the question remains: will the New York Jets be able to get Rodgers and bring him to the Big Apple? It certainly will not be easy if they are to try to do so.
It is expected that the team will need to give Green Bay plenty in order to entertain the idea of a trade in the first place. Many have speculated that it could involve a serious number of draft picks, with many of them being of substantial value. Whether the team is prepared to give up that much capital remains to be seen.
Furthermore, it is understood that the Gang Green could face competition from another AFC side, with the Las Vegas Raiders said to be extremely interested. Derek Carr looks set to be on his way out of Sin City, and with Devante Adams playing at the Allegiant Stadium, a reunion between QB and WR could be on the cards, especially if the franchise wants to bring an experienced quarterback into the fold.
