In what can be considered a rather surprising move, the Jets traded TE Chris Herndon to the Minnesota Vikings for a future draft pick. Herndon, 25, was selected by the Gang Green in the 4th round in 2018. He caught 39 passes for 502 yards, 4 TDs in his rookie campaign but then missed the entire 2019 season. He came back last year and started in 13 games, catching 31 passes for 287 yards, 3 TDs.
Herndon was projected as the starter at tight end this season. This move might open the door for undrafted rookie free agent TE Kenny Yeboah who impressed in the last preseason game against the Eagles.
