QB Zach Wilson is officially the new face of the New York Jets. The Gang Green selected former BYU signal caller with their second overall draft pick, which is the highest ever Jets' quarterback selection since Joe Namath. Wilson had a breakout year in 2020, as he passed for 3,692 yards, 33 TDs and only 3 INTs. Wilson also broke Steve Young's school record for completion percentage with an amazing mark of 73.5 percent. He also ran for 254 yards and scored 10 rushing touchdowns.
Wilson's draft stock really shot up after his very impressive Pro Day, as his deep pass across the body went viral on social media. He does have a very strong arm and ability to throw without having his feet set. He also possesses a high football IQ and known to spend a lot of time studying the game film.
The Gang Green are coming off their second worst season in franchise history (2-14) and have gone 10 seasons without making the playoffs. They are once again in a rebuilding stage and Wilson now becomes the center piece of this process. The Jets have nine more selections in this draft, including #23 overall later tonight.
