Adam Gase will, without a doubt, be remembered as one of the worst head coaches in the history of New York Jets. He will also be remembered as someone who pretty much screwed up the team's future. As the Jets unexpectedly beat the Rams, they also lost their hold of #1 draft pick in next year's draft. If Clemson's QB Trevor Lawrence turns out to be a once in a generation quarterback, as most experts see him, today's loss robbed the cursed franchise of what could finally be a change in their fortunes. Instead, the Jets will most likely be stuck with Sam Darnold, who will most likely have a third head coach in four seasons. It really is a no win situation.
The Jets came into this game as 17-point underdogs. The Rams obviously underestimated their opponent and were totally flat in the first half. They slowly crawled their way back into the game but their go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter was called back on a holding penalty. Then, big plays by Marcus Maye on defense and Frank Gore on offense sealed the victory for Adam Gase's team. This would feel as an amazing win in any other year, but today it feels more like mourning. The Gang Green are screwed for years to come and there's no light in the end of this dark tunnel. The Jets (1-13) will not join the Lions and the Browns as the only 0-16 teams, but who really cares...
