LB Jordan Jenkins, who led the Jets with 8.0 sacks last season, has agreed to sign a 1-year deal for $5M to keep playing for the team that drafted him in the 3rd round of 2016 draft. Jenkins, 25, has been improving his season sack totals throughout his 4-year career with the Gang Green. He started in 11 games as a rookie, recording 2.5 sacks in 2016. He had 3.0 sacks in 2017 and 7.0 sacks in 2018. Last season he started in 13 games, had 32 tackles (21 solo) and forced two fumbles.
Jenkins participated in 52% of defensive snaps last season, primarily on passing downs. Four of his eight sacks in 2019 came on third downs. Jenkins' 20.5 career sacks in green-and-white is 16th best in Jets history.
