The New York Jets have reportedly reached an agreement with former Seattle OT George Fant. According to ESPN, the deal is $30M for 3 years, including $13.7M in guaranteed money. Fant, 27, started in 24 games for the Seahawks in the last 4 seasons. Seattle signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He played the last ten consecutive games of the season as the Seattle Seahawks' starting left tackle and finished his rookie season appearing in 14 games with ten starts. Fant tore his ACL in the second preseason game of 2017 and missed the entire year.
Fant played 4 years of college basketball before transitioning to football as a tight end. The Seahawks occasionally utilized him as a blocking tight end. He caught one pass for 9 years in 2018.
The Gang Green's primary free agent target at tackle was Jack Conklin but he chose to sign with the Browns. New England's OG Joe Thuney was also on the radar but that plan also fell through as the Pats designated him as their franchise player.
