S Jamal Adams has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He recorded two sacks, including the forced fumble he returned for a touchdown, in the 34-27 win against the New York Giants last Sunday. Adams also led the team with 9 tackles (8 solo) and also recorded one pass defense.
Adams became the first Jet to win this award since CB Darrelle Revis did it in Week 2 of the 2015 season. The Jets defeated the Colts back then and Revis had an interception and two fumble recoveries.
Adams is leading the Jets with 52 tackles (43 solo) this season, which includes 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. He also has 6 pass defenses and an interception that he returned for a touchdown in Week 3 against the Patriots. This is his first regular season NFL award. Adams was named Pro Bowl Defensive MVP last season.
