Sam Darnold's masterful performance against the Dallas Cowboys did not go unnoticed. He was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the first NFL award of his career. After missing the previous three games due to mononucleosis, Darnold completed 23 of 32 pass attempts (71.9 percent) for 338 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT to propel the Jets toward a 24-22 upset win over the Cowboys.
Darnold's 338 passing yards was the second best of his NFL career and the best ever performance for a Jets quarterback against Dallas. His second quarter 92-yard touchdown pass to Robby Anderson was the longest of his career and also the longest ever pass for a Jets quarterback against Dallas. Darnold's 113.8 quarterback rating was also the highest ever for a Jets quarterback against Dallas and the only one over 100.
Darnold is also a finalist for the FedEx Air Player of the Week for his efforts during Week 6. Voting for this award will conclude Thursday, October 17th at 3PM ET and the winner will be announced later that afternoon.
