CB Antonio Cromartie's reunion with the Jets did not last long, as the Gang Green cut the 10-year veteran just one year into his 4-yar $32M contract. Cromartie, 31, failed to produce last season, finishing the year with no interceptions at all for the first time since his rookie year. He was going to count $8M against the cap in 2016, so his release was pretty much a no brainer for the Jets.
CB Marcus Williams, who led the Jets with 6 interceptions last season, is probably expected to take Cromartie's place in the starting lineup.
It's safe to assume that Cromartie, a 4-time Pro Bowl selection, will never see another multiyear megamillion contract coming his way. If we take into account that he has 11 children with 8 different women, and according to thebiglead pays $336,000/year in child support, his future indeed looks very bleak. We might soon see his name mentioned with the likes of Terrell Owens, Warren Sapp and Antoine Walker...
