After surging up in power rankings a week ago, the New York Jets tumbled down almost as fast this week. It now seems like Pro Football Talk's score was the most realistic last week when they placed the Gang Green at #14. This is exactly where the Jets find themselves in their rankings again this week. All the other pundits, all of whom had the Jets in the top 10, had to lower their evaluation of Todd Bowles' team, following their embarrassing loss against the Eagles. ESPN now has the Jets at #15 (down 6 spots from last week). FOX Sports placed the Jets at #14, which is 4 spots down. Yahoo Sports has the Jets at #13 (3 spots down). Finally, CBS Sports went as far as placing the Jets at #17 (7 spots down).
Here's what the power rankings websites had to say about the Jets:
ESPN: Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 58 passes in the Jets' Week 3 loss to the Eagles. That matched his number of attempts from Weeks 1 and 2 combined (both Jets wins).
FOX Sports: In Week 3, Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (three interceptions) was exposed. He’s limited. If the Jets want to make a run with their elite defense, they might want to consider a return to Geno Smith eventually.
CBS Sports: They looked like a much different team against the Eagles than they did against the Colts. Who are they?
ProFootballTalk: The New York Jets, finding new and innovative ways to create dysfunction since 1999. If not much earlier than that.
Yahoo Sports: Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 58 times, partially because they were down early and partially because the running game wasn't good with injured Chris Ivory getting no carries. The Jets will never win a game in which Fitzpatrick has to throw 58 times. Feeling pretty confident in that prediction.
