The New York Jets stayed put in the first round and selected DE Leonard Williams from USC at #6 overall. Williams, 6'5", 291 lbs, is arguably the best player in the draft. He recorded 80 tackles and 7 sacks in 2014 as a junior and was projected as a top 3 pick before the draft.
He will join a quite crowded Jets defensive line that already features two former first round draft picks - DT Sheldon Richardson and DE Muhammad Wilkerson. Although Wilkerson could be on his way out, as the Gang Green received at least two trade offers for him before the draft.
According to various scouting reports, Williams is quick with lateral ability, flexibility and balance to penetrate gaps and attack on stunts. He has very long arms, which allows him to keep blockers away and shows good technique to chop away opponents. He locates the football quickly and has good speed for pursuit
