The New York Jets have announced that they signed free agent WR Eric Decker to a 5-year contract. Last season Decker started in all 16 games for the Denver Broncos, catching 87 passes for 1,288 yards, 11 TDs. He was regarded as one of the best free agent wide receivers this year.
Decker, 26, was drafted by the Broncos in the 3rd round of the 2010 NFL draft and subsequently signed a 4-year contract. He had a quiet rookie season before breaking through in 2011 when he hauled in 44 passes for 612 yards, 8 TDs. The arrival of Peyton Manning in 2012 helped Decker elevate his game even further. He caught 85 passes for 1,064 yards, 13 TDs in 2012.
ProFootballFocus had Decker ranked #11 among all NFL wide receivers in 2013. He caught 64.4% of passes thrown to him, scored 11 TDs, 3 passes thrown to him were picked off. He also had 8 drops and 2 fumbles.
According to ESPN, Decker signed a 5-year deal worth $36.25M, including $15M in guaranteed money.
