Following last night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, 28-10, the New York Jets began trimming their roster down to 53 players, as they have to make the 9PM ET deadline. WR Eron Riley, who led the team with 4 catches for 28 yards last night, is reportedly among the initial cuts.
S D'Anton Lynn, the son of Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn, DE Jay Richardson, OG Robert T. Griffin, this year's 6th round pick, have also been reportedly cut.
Other cuts: OL Fred Koloto, WR Joe Collins, TE Tarren Lloyd, OL Matt Kroul, CB Julian Posey, CB LeQuan Lewis, NT Martin Tevaseu and P Spencer Lanning.
UPDATE: The Jets also cut QB Matt Simms, LB Marcus Dowtin and LB Brett Roy. The roster right now stands at 60 players, so the Jets will have to cut 7 more today.
UPDATE: RB Terrance Ganaway, the only player for score a TD for the Jets in this preseason, has been waived as well. The Gang Green, however, reportedly want him on practice squad. WR Royce Pollard, who got injured last night, was waived as well.
