The New York Jets traded their conditional draft pick for OT Jeff Otah of the Carolina Panthers. After showing lots of promise at right tackle in his first two seasons, Otah has dealt with a series of injuries and has appeared in only four games the last two years.
Otah, 26, started in 12 games in his rookie season (missed 4 due to an injury). One year later he started in 13 games at right tackle before missing the entire 2010 season. Last year he started in 4 games before being placed on injured reserve again on October 19th.
The Jets need depth on their offensive line, and Otah could push OT Wayne Hunter for a starting job at the right tackle if he is healthy. Hunter struggled at times in 2011, his first year as a full-time regular.
The Jets also put four players on the physically unable to perform list: S LaRon Landry, rookie LB Demario Davis, WR Jordan White and OG Terrence Campbell.
