It was another quiet day for the New York Jets, as the Gang Green re-signed PK Nick Folk, who spent last two seasons with the team. Folk converted only 76% of his field goal attempts last season and the Jets intend to bring another kicker to training camp to compete with him.
The Jets also reportedly reached out to WR Jerricho Cotchery, who had 16 receptions for 237 yards, 2 TD last year in a rather limited role in Pittsburgh. They also expect Oakland's WR Chaz Schilens to visit later this week. Schilens, a former 7th round pick, has both the size and speed but never really put up any decent numbers with the Raiders. Neither option looks like #2 WR that the Jets are looking for, so they might as well wait until the draft to fill in that need.
The Jets also released WR Michael Campbell and S Gerald Alexander, leaving only two safeties on their roster - Eric Smith and Tracy Wilson. The safety search meanwhile continues, as the Jets have shown interest in S LaRon Landry, S Reggie Nelson and S Brandon Merriweather.
Meanwhile, QB Chad Henne, who looked like a potential backup to Mark Sanchez, signed with the Jaguars. RB Peyton Hillis, another player who's been linked with the Jets, signed with the Chiefs.
RFA Jamaal Westerrman visited the Dolphins today, while UFA Brodney Pool visited Dallas.
