SS Jim Leonhard will indeed miss the rest of the season with a torn patellar tendon in his right knee, coach Rex Ryan announced today. Leonhard was carted to the locker room in the second quarter of yesterday's 37-10 win against the Kansas City Chiefs. Last year Leonhard was also lost for the season after fracturing his right tibia in practice. S Brodney Pool will take Leonhard's place in the starting lineup.
Leonhard, a seven-year veteran, is in the final year of his 3-year deal with the Jets. Considering that this is his second season ending injury in a row, we might have seen Leonhard's last game for the Gang Green. Although Rex Ryan expressed confidence that Leonhard will come back strong from this injury.
OG Brandon Moore, who missed all practice sessions last week with soreness in his hips but started Sunday, said afterward that he came through the game OK. Ryan expects that Moore will not practice Wednesday, be limited Thursday and be full go Friday.
