Another day of free agency is almost over but there's still no decision from CB Nnamdi Asomugha whom the New York Jets are desperately trying to sign. Their patience seems to be getting pretty thin though. According to SNY, the Gang Green asked Asomugha to make his decision tonight.
Earlier in the day we reported that the Jets were competing against the Houston Texans to land the Raiders' cornerback. Houston, however, went in a different direction, as they signed CB Jonathan Joseph. So, the Jets are now up against the Buccaneers, who reportedly offered a huge deal that the Gang Green just won't be able to match. Then, there's also the 49ers who didn't offer as much money but Asomugha loves the Bay area and that could be the trump card in the hands of San Francisco's front office.
UPDATE: There is an UNCONFIRMED report that the Jets did reach a contract agreement with Asomugha, who rejected a huge offer from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At this point, however, this is only a rumor that hasn't been confirmed by any major media source.
UPDATE: According to a more credible source, the Jets are still negotiating with Asomugha. There is no contract agreement yet.
