The New York Jets played basically a mistake free game, as they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals on the road, 24-14, and are through to the Divisional Playoffs. Both rookies, QB Mark Sanchez and RB Shonn Greene, played pivotal roles in this great win. Sanchez, battling both single degree wind chills and playoff pressure, performed admirably. He completed 12 of 15 passes for 182 yards, 1 TD and 0 INT. He became the first rookie quarterback who completed over 70% of his passes in a playoff game. Greene ran for 135 yards on 21 carries (6.4 yards per carry) and scored the first Jets' touchdown on a 39-yard run in the second quarter.
TE Dustin Keller was another young player who came up big in this game. He caught 3 of 4 passes that were thrown in his direction and took two of them for big yards down the field. First, Keller caught a 45-yard touchdown that gave the Jets the lead in the second quarter. In the final quarter Keller made another huge play, which lead to PK Jay Feely's field goal and extended the lead to two scores.
WR Jerricho Cotchery once again showed that he's the best receiver on this team. Cotchery caught all 6 passes thrown to him for a total of 67 yards.
The defense gave up 171 rushing yards and quite a few long gains on the ground, but they stepped up when they had two. CB Darrelle Revis limited Chad Ochocinco to only 2 catches for 28 yards and had an interception. LB Bryan Thomas also had a big game - 7 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 defended pass. DE Shaun Ellis recorded 6 tackles, 1 sack and recovered a fumble.
The Jets have won 6 of their last 7 games and their confidence is growing rapidly. Whoever they are going to play next weekend, better watch out! The Jets are coming!!!
J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!!!!
