The New York Jets have signed recently released CB Marquice Cole to practice squad and released TE Jack Simmons from practice squad. Cole was released earlier this week to make room for DE Shaun Ellis who was suspended for Week 1. Simmons had plenty of chances to make the team but drops in preseason games basically sealed his fate. He was released on the final roster cutdown day and then signed to practice squad.
Cole, 25, has been moving from team to team throughout his entire NFL career. As an undrafted free agent, Cole had been among the final cuts in Oakland and Tennessee in the previous two summers and spent those seasons on the practice squads of the respective teams.
Simmons, 23, was signed by the Jets in May of this year as an undrafted rookie free agent from Minnesota.
The Jets also practiced for the first time today preparing for Sunday's game against the Patriots. NT Kris Jenkins (back), DT Sione Pouha (ankle), OT Damien Woody (illness) and WR Wallace Wright (hamstring) were limited in training.
