Earlier today the New York Jets announced their 8-man practice squad. All of these eight players were on the team during training camp: FB Jehuu Caulcrick, S Emanuel Cook, LB Kenwin Cummings, S Keith Fitzhugh, WR Marcus Henry, DT Matt Kroul, OT Ryan McKee and TE Jack Simmons.
WR Marcus Henry was drafted by the Jets in the 6th round of 2008 Draft. He spent last season on practice squad as well.
FB Jehuu Caulcrick was expected by many to back up FB Tony Richardson but was unexpectedly cut by the team on Saturday.
LB Kenwin Cummings made the 53-man roster last season before being released after the opening game. He was then signed to practice squad where he spent the remainder of the season.
TE Jack Simmons had plenty of chances to make the team but several crucial drops in preseason games sealed his fate.
RB Danny Woodhead, who ran for 158 yards in the final preseason game and made the 53-man roster for just one day before being cut yesterday, did not even make practice squad.
The Jets also released P A.J. Trapasso, whom they signed yesterday, and signed P Steve Weatherford. Weatherford is a 4-year veteran who has played for New Orleans, Kansas City and Jacksonville. He has a career punting average of 43.5 yards (36.4 net).
