Despite QB Mark Sanchez' shaky performance on Monday against the Baltimore Ravens, it looks like head coach Rex Ryan is leaning towards naming him the starter. He's expected to start against the Giants on Saturday and play into the third quarter.
UPDATE (8:48 a.m.): According to ESPN, Sanchez has been named the starter. He will start in Week 1 against the Texans!
According to some sources, the Jets are looking to possibly add a veteran wide receiver to their lineup. WR Brad Smith, who started against the Ravens, failed to impress and WR David Clowney is yet to play with the first team. WR Jerricho Cotchery said that he's eager to see how Clowney can perform with the first team.
Rookie RB Shonn Greene got injured on Monday, but his injury isn't believed to be serious. It's way too early but it sure seems like Greene gets injured quite often.
The Jets will have an open practice today at Florham Park. The session is scheduled to begin at 11:50 a.m.
