DE Shaun Ellis is expected to be suspended by the league for last year's incident with marijuana. On November 29th of 2008 the 10-year veteran was arrested in Morris County, NJ for possessing of less than 50 grams of marijuana, which is a disorderly person offense in New Jersey. Additionally, he was driving without insurance.
Ellis was fined by the Jets but not suspended. He was allowed to play on the next day against the Denver Broncos. This upcoming suspension is another blow to the Jets' defense who will be already missing LB Calvin Pace in the first four games, Pace is suspended by the league for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy.
Meanwhile, the Jets took the field this morning for another practice session. This time they are back on the turn field, as it rained earlier today and the grass field is wet. LB Bart Scott has a hamstring injury but is still participating in drills. NT Kris Jenkins is out again with a calf injury. He's joined on the sideline by CB Darrelle Revis, who is out with a hamstring injury. FB Tony Richardson is also out.
QB Mark Sanchez is working with the first team offense again this morning.
UPDATE (11:03am): C NIck Mangold suffered an injury in this morning practice session. No details are available yet. QB Mark Sanchez was intercepted by S Jim Leonhard.
