The New York Jets traded up from #5 in the second round to #30 in the first round and selected TE Dustin Keller from from Purdue. This move was obviously influenced by the recent trade request from disgruntled starting TE Chris Baker. Keller, 6'2", 248lbs, caught 68 passes for 881 yards and 7 TDs in his senior year.
According to the Pro Football Weekly Draft Guide, Keller is "a situational player who wil bring the most value as a receiver in the slot, where he could create mismatches with his speed, Keller projects to H-back in the pros." Was this undersized for a TE player with limited blocking skills worth trading up? Remains to be seen....
