According to the New York Daily News, the New York Jets are close to a new deal with WR Laveranues Coles. The agreement could be finalized as early as Friday, March 28.
The Jets keep looking at running backs in the upcoming NFL Draft. A few days ago GM Mike Tannenbaum attended the Pro Day at the University of Arkansas where he took a close look at RB Darren McFadden, arguably the best back in this year's Draft. Also, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Jets are expected to meet with RB Rashard Mendenhall from the University of Illinois. Mendenhall ran for almost 1,700 yards (17 TDs) in his final collegiate season and is projected to be selected in the top 15.
In other news, Jets FA CB Andre Dyson is expected to meet today with the Houston Texans. Dyson, 28, spent last two years with the Gang Green. Last season he missed the last seven games due to an injury.
