The New York Jets have agreed to terms with TE Bubba Franks. The three time Pro Bowler who was chosen by the Packers in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft is expected to be a backup behind TE Chris Baker this season.
Franks, 30, is an eight year veteran who spent his entire NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before being cut last month. He caught a career-low 18 passes last season, but three of them were touchdowns.
According to the reports, the Jets had originally hoped to sign TE Ben Utecht. When that plan fell through after Utecht signed an offer sheet with the Bengals, New York focused their efforts on Franks.
