According to the New York Daily News, the New York Jets released RB Kevan Barlow - a total disappointment in the 2006 season. Barlow, who was acquired from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a draft pick, gained only 370 yards on 131 carries (2.8 yards/carry). This was the worst per-carry average in the NFL for backs with at least 100 rushes. The Jets didn't have to cut Barlow for salary-cap reasons (they're more than $20 million under the cap), but his departure will indeed save an additional $3.25M.
